Le Loire Valley
We rented a car to tour Caen and decided it was easiest if we dropped it in Tours before starting our 3 day biking adventure.
On the way, we passed through Le Mans and ended up on the race track for about 10km as its part of the highway system.
We spent only one night in Tours. It is a very lovely town with some Harry Potter vibes. We wished we had planned to stay at least one more night there.
The next morning we set off on our biking adventure from Tours to Amboise. We couldn't find bag transport, so we took our backpacks 20 minutes by train ride to Amboise, and then trained back to grab our bikes.
It was a lovely cool morning start and we saw swans on the river as we rode along.
"It looks like a fairy garden" says Zoe
For lunch, we stopped at a 3 minute pizza box.
It turned out to be quite yummy and when we saw some locals stop there too, we knew it was safe to eat :)
Finally, after our 27km (4 hour bike ride) trip we arrived at our chateau for the next 2 nights. "I wish I wasn't in this f***ing fairy garden"...
Apparently 27km is our limit and if we wanted to see the castles that we had set out to see, we needed to adjust our plans. 3 biking days turned into 1 and a fairy godmother turned our bikes into a car. Back into fairy tale land.
Zoe approved!
