Namibian Camping

It started bad.

The first night camping in Namibia was bad. We stayed near a lake where there were lots of mosquitoes, and it was super hot at night. Zoe and I got eaten alive by the mosquitoes plus how hot it was, it was awful. We all had awful sleeps with the constant buzzing of the mosquitoes.

So we got out of there quick and after a 2-hour drive, we arrived at a nice campsite called Stofpad.

In the end it was our favourite place.

It had a nice, big pool for the heat of the day, but it never was as bad we even had a bit of rain.

There was a nice restaurant, and you could drive around the massive property, it easily over a couple thousand acres there wasn't much to see but we went for the fun of driving ourselves on a safari.

After that we went on a long drive (4 hours) to the coast and got to a campsite with no privacy or much space.

After one night we left and drove along the coast to a different one with a nice vibe right on the beach called Windpomp and it was like 20-30 degrees instead of the 30-40 it was inland. We couldn't swim because the waves right off the beach were crazy, so me and Zoe played a game where we jump over the initial part of the wave so not to get hit by the front of the waves.

On the last day right before we left there I was throwing rocks around on the beach and I picked up a sharp one and threw, it the force of throwing it gave me a deep cut that made us go to a medical center to get it glued together now I couldn't get it wet for 5 days. (I won't add the photo, but I will post it separately. 

After we glued my finger, we went on an hour drive to this pretty bad campsite where we didn't do much it was the only one with shared bathrooms and then left on a 4-hour drive to my second favourite campsite called Mowani. It had a nice pool (I couldn't go in because of my finger and there were some annoying flies but other than that it was nice (There was even slushies) and the person that worked there was super nice.

We think it was in a crater after looking at google maps. After we left, we got to a pretty bad campsite with a bad pool no cell service and it was hot.

So, we turned right back around and went back to Mowani for 2 more nights.

Next was an interesting campsite called Palmwag it had 2 or 3 pools all cold but not too cold to swim and there were 2 bathrooms for our site, but they were far from our truck 20M. It overall was nice there was a resident elephant that was there normally, but he was not there. T at that time of the year the elephant was normally there from January on, so we missed it by 1 or 2 months. Overall, we did like it though.

Next we went to Toshari where there campsites must have been an after thought because they were not very nice, bug infested, and the bathroom was covered with who knows what because it was outside and covered with leaves, and we also saw a small snake that could have been venomous (it was too small to bite us though and scared of us. After that we went into Etosha national park (for the day) to seem some animals we saw lots of zebra antelope and wildebeest.

After that our camping trip was over when we drove too a lodge where there was a giraffe that wandered around, and rhinos that we saw when they got fed dinner. We could get close because there was a metal fence in between us and them. They are basically horned hippos, and they were pretty used to humans getting fed by them every day. They ignored us while we were at the fence.

Overall, the camping trip was a 6/10.
