Kumano Kodo Trek
It is a few day trek in Kii penisula where you go shrine to shrine on a "spiritual journey" collect stamps and visit onsen's.
First day was short but uphill
With decent food but nothing special. 4km
Zoe doesn't like treks so we called it a walk.
First Night Takahara
Second Day easier but much longer
breakfast was better but dinner was slightly worse. 10km
Second Night Chikatsuyu
We only had a bus but missed 2 of them because they we're full and
ended up waiting 4 hours mostly in the rain. 2km
Third Night Yunomine Onsen
We walked to a bus stop waited and the same bus from the earlier day
was full so we walked to a town and took a bus from there, and went to 3 Oji's (Shrines)
and took a bus back. 12km
Every meal included tuna, rice, some sort of hot pot so not stuff I really liked at all. The hot pot normally had some beef in it we had this one beef once that was super fatty and weird. We had one good meal the entire trek and it was scrambled egg with bacon (which was really ham) and fruit at the second place. Otherwise the food was really not for me.
It was an interesting experience, 90% of the food was fish so I didn't eat a lot of it.
There was rice every night.
Weird fish we were served
At the 3rd place we had our own private onsen bath
Used it a good amount of times only complaint is when heating it up the onsen water smells like sulfur.
I had to carry Zoe's backpack and Dad carried mine, so for 4 days we only had our 2 smaller packs and 1 day pack. We traveled 25km by foot total over 4 days of walking, and 50km ish by bus.
There was some cool shrines called Oji's and Taisha's. Oji's are small shrines and Taisha's are bigger temples. The shrines mostly had their own stamp so we had to get a stamp book for it.
A few shrines
Luckily there was only 1 day where it rained at it happened to be the day we waited 4 hours for a bus.
Over all i don't have a lot of bad things to say about it other than the food.
